Within Richmond there are numerous students of Aboriginal ancestry attending school. Through a partnership with Connections Community Services, Vancouver Coastal Health, and the Richmond School District, a child, youth and family worker provides support to Aboriginal students and their families to improve their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development. Support is provided to help them find and use housing, medical, legal, employment and other resources in the community. The goals of the program are to support the health and wellness of Aboriginal students, their families and encourage each of them to succeed in the goals they set for themselves. This program works out of the Pathways Aboriginal Center, in the community and various schools across Richmond. The program offers a number of regular activities such as the Ravens Homework Club, art sessions for kids, one to one counseling and support and family nights each month. Come in and check out the center, participate in a fun activity or meet with one of our workers. There are so many fun things to do and learn.
